Effective date: 17 September 2026
In short: ShrinkWrap works on your phone. Your photos, videos and the information inside them are processed only on your device and are never sent to us. We have no account system, no servers that receive your data, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Purchases are handled by Google Play. The sections below explain everything in full.
1. Who we are
This policy is issued by Kozmund ("we", "us", "our"), the developer of the ShrinkWrap app for Android ("ShrinkWrap" or "the app"). It explains what information the app accesses, what happens to it, and the choices you have. You can reach us at kozmund.studio@gmail.com.
2. The core principle: on-device processing
Everything ShrinkWrap does with your photos and videos — showing them, measuring their size, estimating savings, compressing, finding duplicates, reading photo details and making share cards — happens entirely on your device. We do not receive, upload, copy, view, store or have any access to your photos, videos, their contents or their metadata. Nothing in this policy should be read as saying otherwise.
3. Information the app accesses on your device
With your permission, the app reads the following on your device, only to provide its features:
- Photos and videos in your device's shared media library, including their image and video content.
- File information such as file name, size, format, dimensions, folder name, and the dates the file was taken and last changed.
- Metadata inside files (for example EXIF data) such as the camera make and model, lens and exposure settings, orientation, and — if the file contains it — the location where it was taken.
- Whether a file is marked as a favourite in your device's gallery.
None of this leaves your device through ShrinkWrap.
4. What the app stores on your device
To work properly and quickly, the app keeps some information in its own private storage on your device. Other apps cannot read this storage. It includes:
- Your settings and preferences, such as appearance, chosen layouts, sort order, protected folders, notification choices, and which prompts you have dismissed.
- A compression history: a record of each compression run, the files it included (by their internal device identifiers), their sizes before and after, and the outcome. This lets you see your history and lets the app safely finish or repair a run that was interrupted, for example by a power loss.
- Temporary working files created while a photo or video is being compressed or previewed. These are removed once they are no longer needed.
- Duplicate-detection fingerprints: short numerical summaries of your photos' content and appearance, used to recognise copies and look-alikes without re-reading every photo each time.
- Cached measurements such as folder sizes, video frame rates and similar technical details, so the app opens quickly.
- A list of files deleted through the app, so they can be shown in Recently deleted and restored.
- Your Pro status as last reported by Google Play, and the total space the app has freed.
- Share cards you create, stored temporarily in the app's cache so they can be passed to the app you choose to share with.
This information is excluded from Android cloud backups and from device-to-device transfer, so it does not leave your device that way either. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android settings.
5. Permissions and why each is requested
- Photos and videos (
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES,READ_MEDIA_VIDEO,READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED, and on older Android versionsREAD_EXTERNAL_STORAGE/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): to show your library and make files smaller. If you allow access to selected photos only, the app works with those alone. - Location in photos (
ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION): Android removes location information from photos unless an app requests this. ShrinkWrap requests it so that compressing a photo preserves where it was taken instead of erasing it, and so the photo details can show the place. Place names are looked up from a list built into the app, without any network connection. Your location is never sent anywhere by the app. - Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to show progress while a compression you started is running, and, only if you turn them on, optional notes such as the weekly report or new photos being ready. You can turn notifications off at any time. - Foreground service (
FOREGROUND_SERVICE,FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PROCESSING,FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC): so a compression you started keeps running if you switch to another app. It runs only after you start it and shows a notification while running. - Background scheduling (
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED,WAKE_LOCK): used by Android's job scheduler so optional scheduled checks you turned on, such as the weekly report, continue after your phone restarts. - Internet and network state (
INTERNET,ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE,BILLING): used only by the Google Play Billing Library to show prices, complete purchases and confirm what you own. The app does not use the internet for anything else.
Every file change and every deletion is confirmed through Android's own system dialog before it happens. ShrinkWrap changes only the files you approve.
6. What we collect
We do not collect personal information through the app. We do not operate servers that receive data from the app, and we do not have access to your photos, videos, files, metadata, location, device identifiers or usage.
The only information we receive is information you choose to send us yourself — for example, if you email us. In that case we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message (you may choose to paste the app's diagnostics, described below). We use it only to respond to you and to fix problems you report, and we delete it when it is no longer needed for that purpose.
7. Purchases and Google Play
ShrinkWrap Pro is sold through Google Play. When you view prices, make a purchase, or the app checks what you own, the app communicates with Google Play through the Google Play Billing Library. Google processes your payment and account information, and the Billing Library may send technical and diagnostic information about the purchase flow to Google. We never see or receive your payment card details. Google tells the app only whether you own Pro so it can be unlocked. Google's handling of this information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and the Google Play Terms of Service.
8. Sharing and other apps
We do not sell, rent, trade or share your information with anyone, and we do not share it for advertising.
Information only leaves the app when you ask it to, and it goes where you send it:
- Sharing a photo, video or share card uses Android's share sheet. The item goes to the app you choose, and is then governed by that app's policies.
- Open in Maps in photo details passes the photo's coordinates to the maps app you pick, only when you tap it.
- Copy diagnostics in Settings places a short text on your clipboard containing the app version, Android version, device make and model, available memory, whether Pro is active, the total space freed, and counts from any crash recovery. It contains no photos, file names or locations, and it goes nowhere unless you paste it somewhere yourself.
9. Analytics, advertising and tracking
ShrinkWrap contains no analytics, no advertising, no advertising identifiers, no crash-reporting service and no tracking of any kind. We do not build profiles and we do not track you across apps or websites.
10. Data security
Because your data stays on your device, it is protected by Android's app sandbox and your device's own security, such as your screen lock and encryption. The app's private storage cannot be read by other apps. No method of storage is perfectly secure, so we encourage you to keep your device's screen lock and software up to date.
11. Retention and deletion
We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to retain. Information stored by the app on your device stays until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Files you delete through the app are moved to Android's trash and are removed permanently by Android after 30 days, unless you restore them or delete them sooner. Files you compress remain yours, on your device, in their smaller form.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent — for example under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Because we do not collect or hold your personal information, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device: you can revoke any permission in Android settings, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. If you have emailed us, you can ask us to access or delete that correspondence at kozmund.studio@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
13. Legal bases (EEA and UK)
To the extent any processing is subject to the GDPR: processing of your media on your device takes place under your control to provide the service you requested (performance of a contract); handling purchases through Google Play is necessary to perform our contract with you; and responding to messages you send us is based on our legitimate interest in supporting our users.
14. International transfers
We do not transfer your information anywhere. Google may process purchase-related information in countries other than your own under its own policies and safeguards.
15. Children
ShrinkWrap is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the app itself collects none from anyone. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available in the app and at the web address listed on ShrinkWrap's Google Play page, with its effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how your information is handled, we will make it clearly visible in the app before it takes effect.
17. Contact and grievances
For any question, request or complaint about privacy, including grievances under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, contact Kozmund at kozmund.studio@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
